My Story

From my first Flutter app in Yogyakarta to learning SwiftUI in Jakarta. Here’s how I got here.

2022 — 2026

The Journey Started

I think it all started when I began college in 2022. After taking a gap year, I decided to make a big step by moving to a completely new place on my own. From Lampung to Yogyakarta, the city of students. Hundreds of kilometers away from home in pursuit of higher education. Finally, in August 2022, I arrived at Amikom University Yogyakarta.

Here, I learned so many things. During my first semester, I joined Amikom Computer Club as a member and started learning Mobile Development, especially Flutter, which was one of the organization's main areas of focus. It was also here that I built my very first mobile project using Flutter: JogjaTour, an application that helps newcomers discover what Yogyakarta has to offer. Together with my two teammates, Guido and Rizki, we submitted this project to the AMCC Final Project competition in 2023, where we were honored to win first place.

From that moment on, I became interested in contributing more and applied to become part of the AMCC management team. Long story short, after going through nearly a year of leadership training, I officially became one of the organization's board members. Not only that, I was entrusted with the role of Human Resource Development Coordinator, a position that required me to manage many different aspects of the organization.

AMCC

This role taught me how an organization is managed, how to lead a team, design work programs, and manage people. Even so, I do have one regret. Looking back, I feel that I wasn't good enough at leading and guiding my teammates to reach their best performance. But despite that, I gained invaluable experience and learned so much throughout the journey.

Throughout college, I balanced academics with organizational responsibilities, which pushed me to work hard and manage my time carefully, even though it often meant having to prioritize one responsibility over another. Long story short, I continued into my second term as an AMCC board member, this time joining the Information Technology (IT) Department. Based on my experience as the Human Resource Development Coordinator, the newly elected AMCC Leader at the time, Egi, asked me to help bring a fresh perspective to how the department was managed. My responsibility was to support team management and introduce new ideas because, when it came to technical skills and tech stacks, I was far behind many of my teammates in the department.

This period also marked my final semesters in college. I participated in many competitions and university events. Together with my team, BMD (Bentar Mikir Dulu), we spent an entire year competing and were fortunate enough to win numerous awards. One of the moments I'm most proud of is that, during that year, I was featured on my study program's Instagram and website. Haha.

2026 — Now

The Academy Arc

I still remember the moment I received the email telling me that I had been accepted as part of the first cohort of Apple Developer Academy @ UC Jakarta. It felt unreal. I was completely speechless.

I also remember that back in July 2025, my friend Nawa kept pushing me to apply to the Apple Developer Academy. At the time, I was being realistic. I genuinely didn't think it was something I could achieve because I hadn't yet learned how to recognize my own value.

With only half of my heart in it, I applied for the 2026 Apple Developer Academy cohort. I prepared my CV and portfolio as well as I possibly could, but I deliberately avoided setting the goal of getting accepted. I thought that if I didn't make it, it wouldn't hurt as much.

I successfully completed the online test and waited for the next stage of the selection process. By then, I wasn't expecting much anymore. When I received the news that I hadn't been accepted to the Batam site, I immediately convinced myself that it was over. With that mindset, I simply went to sleep that afternoon.

That night, one of my friends texted me and told me to check my dashboard. To my surprise, I had actually advanced to the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) stage for their newest site in Jakarta.

Well, I guess this is where the story ends for now. As you can probably tell, I'm here today as one of the cohorts at Apple Developer Academy @ UC Jakarta. I'll continue sharing this journey once I have more stories worth telling.
